About Us

Since 1984, Hampden Hearing Center has provided the finest hearing care in a comfortable setting.

Our office is staffed by certified, licensed audiologists who have earned Doctorate degrees in Audiology (Au.D.) and have many years of experience helping people with hearing loss. We work with each patient to select the treatment plan best suited to the individual’s communication needs.

Hearing is critical to every aspect of our lives.

People often wait years before deciding to do something about hearing difficulty. Research has shown that hearing loss affects not only an individual’s personal and professional life, but also the person’s self esteem.

Many health insurance plans cover the cost of hearing evaluations, and some plans provide partial or complete payment for hearing aids. You should check with your insurance carrier regarding your hearing benefits.

Life is happening now!

Better communication can dramatically improve your quality of life. Why wait?

Living Local

Our History

30th Anniversary: 1984-2014

Hampden Hearing Center was founded in 1980 by Kathryn P. (Kay) Gillispie in West Springfield, Massachusetts. Ms. Gillispie was one of the first audiologists in the country to start a private practice. The East Longmeadow office was opened in 1984 by Ms. Gillispie and Susan Bankoski Chunyk. Dr. Chunyk managed the practice at the East Longmeadow site while Ms. Gillispie continued to oversee the West Springfield office.

Hampden Hearing Center East relocated from its original location at 219 North Main Street to its current larger facility at 200 North Main Street in 1999. When Ms. Gillispie retired in 2002, the West Springfield office was closed and service is now provided at the East Longmeadow location. We welcome former West Springfield patients to come and see us.
