Are hearing aids eligible for reimbursement through my Flexible Spending Account?

Yes. If your employer offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA), Health Savings Account (HSA) or Health Reimbursement Account (HRA), you may use the pre-tax dollars from that plan to purchase hearing aids or hearing aid batteries. Hearing aid repairs are also eligible expenses. If you are planning to purchase hearing aids, discuss the specifics of your plan with your employer or the Human Resources Department.

Since hearing aids are medical devices, they are considered by the Internal Revenue Service to be a deductible medical expense for income tax purposes. If you have any questions, please contact your tax advisor.
