How can I hear better on the telephone?

There are several options to improve communication on the phone. Amplified telephones not only make speech louder, but some have tone adjustments to improve clarity. Massachusetts residents who have hearing loss can get specialized telephones through the Massachusetts Equipment Distribution Program (MassEDP).

Many people who use hearing aids benefit from a special feature in their devices called a telecoil, while some people prefer to use a speaker phone. Some hearing aids even use Bluetooth technology to stream the voice from the telephone directly to the individual’s hearing aids, with or without a special accessory.

There are now FREE captioned telephones that print out the speaker’s words to improve understanding for the person with hearing loss. Contact us for more information about telephone options for better hearing.
