Is there a connection between hearing loss and other health conditions?

Numerous research studies have shown a connection between hearing loss and other chronic health conditions, including Diabetes, Cardiovascular Disease, Kidney Disease and Dementia. Also, some medical treatments, such as chemotherapy and a strong class of antibiotics known as aminoglycosides, sometimes have hearing loss as a side effect. The attached graphic presents some of the key data. If you have been diagnosed with any of these medical conditions, you should have a baseline hearing evaluation.
