Tracking Your Sound World
Today’s hearing aids use digital processing and software programs to
distinguish between speech and noise, control background noise and tune in toward the speech source.
Many hearing aids also record information about the different sound
environments you’re in. We can look at that information to find out how many hours a day you’re in a noisy environment, and how noisy that setting is.
If the sound records indicate that 25% of the time you’re in a noisy environment, we would talk with you about realistic expectations in those settings and the benefits of using a “noisy restaurant” program.
Datalogging also tracks how much you use your hearing aids and how you use the different programs. The information can be helpful as we program your hearing aids to make sure you hear as well as possible in your actual listening environments.
