What Can I Do?
Do you know someone with hearing loss who hasn’t taken any positive steps? The person with a hearing loss is often the last one to know.
There are good reasons for this. Hearing loss usually develops very slowly, so there’s no sudden change in the sensation of hearing.
Here are some tips to encourage someone to practice good hearing health care:
- Don’t criticize. Simply stress that you want the person to hear as well as possible.
- Don’t compensate. When you do have to raise your voice, let the person know that you’re speaking louder than normal.
- Suggest a hearing test. Information and professional advice are an important first step.
- Share this newsletter. Hearing loss is more than just an annoyance. Good hearing health means better health overall.
